About Susan

Susan Cranfield (BA(Hons), PGCE, MA, PhD) has a background in English language teaching and learning and over 30 years teaching experience, primarily with young adults. Her passion for Davis methods comes from her own experience with her son’s dyslexia, in which her very academic background proved to be of almost no help at all. Despite being a bright, curious, intelligent 8 year-old, who loved documentaries and could tell you anything you wanted to know about the history of the Ancient Egyptians, the circulatory system or the life of sharks, he struggled to read, could not write anything legible and certainly could not learn the times tables. Twenty-five years ago, this was simply “a lazy child” who was kept in at break times, had to do maths in art lessons and was at the back of the stage in all primary school plays (even though he knew the lines of every single character and could recite the entire play faultlessly from start to finish). Today, there is more awareness around learning differences, but little progress has been made in addressing them so, whatever you, or you and your child, are going through, Susan understands and, thanks to her inspirational Davis provider training, she can help. Davis changed our lives, and I believe it can help to change yours, too.

Susan provides the full suite of Davis programmes, for both children and adults, that lead to an understanding of life concepts that will help to make an individual’s day to day experience of the world around them more easeful, allowing them to participate in the life that they choose. She is also licensed to provide programmes that help with the mastery of reading, writing, maths and overcoming the difficulties associated with ADHD, at the same time as conserving the unique, important gifts that people who learn and see the world differently bring to all our lives.

Based in the Canary Islands, she provides programmes in both English and Spanish.
