Hello, my name is Sandy McPhall and I am a Licensed Davis Facilitator and the founder of New Chapter Learning. I am adult corrected dyslexic. I was one of the 30% of students who had a very difficult time in school. I remember in college having to read a sentence over 4X. Each time I would read the sentence a new word would pop into the sentence that I could not see previously. Consequently it took me 4X longer to study than others. Regardless, I have 2 undergraduate degrees, I was a manager at a fortune 500 corporation and I am a successful business owner. I don’t want others to suffer as I did, so I decided to bring the program to West Michigan to help others.
I became licensed to provide the Davis Reading Correction Program in 2005 and the Davis Autism Approach since 2012. I am fortunate to have been able to help many students receive the Gift of Reading and to be able to assist the Neurodiverse participate fully in life.

Students generally gain 2 grade levels in reading at the completion of the one-week Dyslexic Reading Correction program, depending upon their age and vocabulary levels. Here is a short example of the success we experience at the end of the week.
13yo boy 8th grade 3-7th grade reading
11yo boy 6th grade 3-7th
14yo girl 9th grade 4-8th
9&10yo boys both 5th grade 2-5th
7yo girl 2nd grade pk – 1st
15yo boy 10th grade 2-6th grade.
The best testimonials are on New Chapter Learning’s Facebook Page. Here you will be able to listen to the students, their experiences with disorientation, fears and how much they accomplished at the completion of their one-week program.
Eli started with the Davis Autism Program with Sandy which lasted about 1 year before we moved onto the Dyslexia program. Sandra informed us that since Eli has Autism, that he would need to complete the Davis Autism Program before moving onto the Davis Dyslexia program. We are so thankful that we followed her advice! It isn’t a cheap program, but it is soooo worth it due to the results. Before Eli started the Davis Autism program, he had difficulty making eye contact, difficulty starting conversations with others, usually talked about what his interests were and didn’t care to talk about other people’s interests. He also had a very hard time focusing on his school work. After the Davis Autism program, Eli started making and maintaining eye contact, he stated initiating conversations with others and asking questions about them and having lengthy back and forth conversations not based on what he was interested in! He learned how to “orient” himself to where he could focus and stay focused especially on his school work, and if his brain started to wonder off, he was able to orient himself again based on the orientation method taught in the Davis Autism Program.

I'm so happy and proud to say my daughter just graduated from college...yay! This might not seem like a big deal but when Sandy met her in 4th grade (rather coincidentally) and discovered she was challenged in school due to dyscalculia (dyslexia in math), we started righting the ship. After she went through Sandy's program (specifically a reorientation process), she looked around and said "Hey, everything stopped wiggling! And the colors are brighter!!". Fast forward to today upon graduation - she traveled to New Zealand for an internship, has all kinds of confidence, and has been heard saying "you know, i'm pretty smart!". Thank-you Sandy for putting us on the path!
Hi, I am an 8th grade student who went through the New Chapter Learning Dyslexia program in February. I had started out at the beginning with a 5th grade reading level and at the end of the program I ended with the beginning of an 8th greade reading level.
This program helped me improve my hand writing, having less stress, able to do my homework on my own and happier because I am more independent when doing my homework. I also get my homework done quicker because it seems easier. When I read it is much easier to comprend what I have read and I can read faster now.
I was afraid to go through this program but now I am thankful that I did go through it. I can see it will help me in the long run. Thank you for helping me.
My daughter was in middle school when she went to New Chapter Learning. I knew that she had social anxiety and was struggling with melt downs in school. There is a history of Aspergers in the family and I wanted to see if this could help my daughter. The teachers commented on how much she had grown up over the summer. They said she was making friends, not having melt downs, and working in groups in class. She is in high school now and continues to make strides in social interactions. She asked me the other day if I think she is a normal teenagers, and I said, "YES"!
