About Sara

Bold textSara's interest in understanding literacy challenges began when her young son was diagnosed as dyslexic. After various support options proved unsuccessful, she discovered the Davis programme. Its holistic approach had such a profound impact on her son and their family that she transitioned from a career in business to become a Davis Facilitator. She completed her training in 2001 and has since worked in London, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. While Sara works with all age groups, she specializes in helping young adults and adults achieve their literacy goals. In addition to being licensed to provide Davis dyslexia and literacy programmes, Sara has a Masters in Adult Dyslexia Diagnosis and Support (London South Bank University) and has studied Educational Neuroscience with Queensland University. She has a keen interest in optimising memory and learning skills.

Sara's Success Stories

I am so happy that I did the course with you when I did because it has been instrumental in me accepting who I am and how I perceive myself… and to be perfectly honest who cares about the rest. Understand how my brain works has really helped with helping some of my friends who have kids who have other difficulty as I am always able to give a different perspective and somehow always end up speaking o behalf the child. Other than that I teach massage can you believe and I wrote my own manual, diagrams the works. You would be proud. I am. I can’t remember if I told you after I did that metaphysics course I was top of the class. Where were you when I started school? I love the fact that I am OUT of the Closet so to speak so when I do run into problems, like when reading a foreign word for an exotic dish on menu which I have never scene before so it’s not familiar to me (because you know I have an excellent memory) I simply say oh it’s the dyslexia again. And laugh it off. The difference is that in the past I would be laughing feeling stupid and shameful but now am genuinely laughing at myself. So thank you for that.

B is writing a perfectly beautiful cursive. Even while practicing his spelling words! Well, the exclamation marks just don't stop. As I'm writing he is lying in his bed reading a Harry Potter book (I think the third one). I know it is too late, but I just cant get it together to force him to switch of his light. I never thought he'll be engrossed in a book he is reading himself. I just went to check on him and he almost did not even glance up at me. He has read the first two pages. What a breakthrough!!! He has progressed from only reading cricket books. It feels like only last week that he would not be able to even get through the first sentence. Never mind the first page.

Working with Sara over a period of time gave me real confidence in my abilities. A big part of my dyslexia is that i struggle with organisation. Learning the davis techniqie has helped me tremendously to improve my organisational skills. Since undertaking the course i have been able to graduate with an MBA from CASS Business School. Having Sara support me through parts of this course was essential to succefully achieving the grade that i wanted.

After following the course with you, she settled into a routine whereby she would several times a day check her balance as well as do one word using the special techniques taught in the Davis programme. She told me that the blank 'pictures' coming in her mind started to go down. Her teachers also remarked a 'jump' in her level of her understanding after reading any material. Now she is able to very quickly check her balance and recentre if it is out of sync. She also regularly practices with the koosh balls and it is remarkable that such a simple exercise has changed her life so much. Thanks to the Davis Programme, she managed to increase her level of English enough to be able to get a place in Le Bocage Middle School which is one of the best schools on the island. I wish to thank you warmly for the unique and life changing skills you were able to teach my daughter in such a short time.
