Donna Pennycook – Davis Methods Facilitator - Clinton, New Zealand
Donna came across the Davis Methods when it was suggested one of her children may be Dyslexic and she began searching for solutions. The frustration watching a child struggle daily and lose confidence was heart breaking and she knew this was what they had been looking for. The Davis Program was life changing for her daughter, herself and their family. Having been a Music Teacher and Teacher Aide for many years, Donna had worked with many children who struggled in the education system, yet always wondered what exactly the cause of their difficulties was. Davis provided these answers, and Donna began her training - she knew she had finally found what she was meant to be doing. Being licensed since 2015, Donna brings years of experience and understanding from different perspectives – as a parent of a Dyslexic, as an individual affected by neurodiversity herself (Dyspraxia) and as a Facilitator.
Facilitating Davis Programmes allows Donna the opportunity to do the work she loves, helping others gain the freedom of achieving their dreams and aspirations. She is passionate about sharing these programmes and assisting people to overcome their difficulties, giving them the ability to control their dyslexia, gaining the freedom to find a new zest for life and hope instead of hiding behind labels and feeling ashamed. It truly is a turning point in people’s lives. Donna offers a gentle, natural approach and is committed to helping others understand and navigate their way through the daily challenges of neurodiversity. There is nothing more fulfilling than guiding clients to understand their neurodiversity and giving them the tools to remove the barriers which are holding them back. Watching the positive changes and ensuring her clients receive the best possible outcomes is truly an honour and a privilege. Being neurodiverse is a life-long journey, and Davis Methods provide the life-long changes to enable individuals to transform their lives and reach their full potential.

Kate Pryde, 11 yrs, Davis Dyslexia Correction Program
Our daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia, and we were looking at ways to help her with the schoolwork. We came across Donna Pennycook and he Davis Dyslexia Programme and liked the idea of the individual programmes designed to meet the needs of each person and their style of learning.
Our daughter’s reading comprehension and focus improved significantly when using the strategies shown to her by this programme. She has also grown in confidence as she learns to master these skills and apply them in a variety of situation.
We found Donna to be easy to work with, professional and she went above and beyond what was expected of her and would recommend Donna and the programme to anyone who is looking for help with dyslexia.
Nathen, 34yrs, Davis Attention Mastery Program
I had an employee who suffered from Dyslexia, he was a valued member of our staff and had the ability to participate and add more to the day to day running and administration of our dairy farming business but was not confident to do so.
A hard physical and practical worker Nathen lacked confidence, had difficulty staying focused, articulating his thoughts and wasn't comfortable in team meetings and the administration environment.
When I first approached Donna, I was impressed by her enthusiasm, she was pleasant to deal with and outlined the expected results after the recommended sessions for this young man.
Nathen, while out of his comfort zone thrived in the well organised and thoughtful sessions with Donna. The full results obviously weren't immediate but over time Nathen took ownership of his position and was much more comfortable and sensible in dealing with his colleagues. The program was very beneficial to him.
An aside, I happened to bump into Nathen on the street at the completion of his last session outside Donna's office, he embraced me and announced, after driving with a restricted licence for about 15 years he was going to make an appointment for his full licence, as he now had the confidence and ability to allow him to do so.
Madison, 9yrs, Davis Dyslexia Correction Program
We have noticed a huge change in Madison’s behaviour as well as her learning capabilities. We noticed even on day one, she was already using the tools Donna had taught her, as well as giving things a go and trying her hardest, which she wasn’t doing prior. We have seen her confidence improve greatly. She is way more confident to read and to read aloud. She struggles with this prior to seeing Donna and I feel as though she has come a long way with this. She is able to calm herself down use her tools to focus so that she feels happy to read. Madi is also able to explain her emotions and feelings, this was a huge concern as we wanted to know when to help her. Madi has far more self-awareness and she understand she learns differently to her peers, and she is now able to take Donna’s advice and all she has learnt to use daily at school but also at home. Coming to see Donna has been great for Madison and I am amazed to see her progress so far. Madison’s struggles have reduced considerable after seeing Donna and we are so grateful for her work.
Henry, 7yrs, Davis Young Learners Program
Henry is confident and happier. He has grown big time at home and school. We can get him to relax more at home and sit and play or read happily. He has learned how to calm and focus himself. School could see a difference in him within a week. Donna is a calm, caring and understanding person. She tailored the program to the child’s needs. Donna has also taught me so much more about why things are happening and how to help correct things. Thank you so much!
