Misty Jones has loved learning her whole life. When her mother called her an imp at five years old, she ran to her favorite dictionary to see what that word meant. She returned distraught and wailing, “I am not a devil!” After laughing uncontrollably for a moment, her mother took the opportunity to explain connotation.
While studying learning and teaching, an impactful conversation with the Head of Education reaffirmed an important truth: it is the love of learning that sustains great educators through difficult seasons. Research suggests that the educators who make the greatest long-term impact- and who endure beyond changing trends and educational fads- are not driven solely by a love of children, but by a deep and enduring love of learning itself. That passion fuels creativity, resilience, and continual growth, ultimately benefiting every student they teach.
After leaving a leadership position in a middle school to return to family in Louisiana, Misty came across a learner she couldn’t seem to impact. Even though she was practicing the best practices and latest techniques in education, his learning remained inconsistent. His mother enrolled him in a Davis Program and at ten years old, he actually volunteered to read a card during family game night. Mind blown, Misty read the book, The Gift of Dyslexia. It was unlike any method widely accepted in educator circles.
A year and a half later, Misty became a facilitator. She continues to be amazed with the results of the Davis Method of Learning. She likens the program to therapy for struggling learners since many of her clients come in as reluctant readers and leave with confidence. This program is incredibly intuitive for neurodivergent individuals.
Above all, her goal remains the same: create independent learners.

Misty Jones is an incredible asset to any child, with or without dyslexia. Misty worked extensively with several children from my classroom. The program is phenomenal, and my students benefited tremendously. I saw a significant improvement in the reading skills of all students that participated in her program. Misty is a wonderful person, approaches each student with kindness, and conveys to them that she will provide a safe, supportive, and fun environment. The students loved the time spent with her. She gave them the space to be who they are, and taught them in a way that made them feel confident and strong. She takes the time to get to know each student so she can find new ways to approach teaching them. She is truly gifted, and quite a blessing for all students that have the opportunity to work with her.

On the day I picked M up... after y'all read a book. I asked him how his day went, and he responded, "Great! We read this part of the book."
He proceeded to open it without prompting and read a paragraph.
I fought back tears.
That was the first time I had ever heard him read. He was finally sure of himself and finally found the confidence to read aloud.
