How Davis Stepping Stones works

The Davis Stepping Stones Program was created by an autistic individual as a roadmap for navigating life with autism, and focuses on the unique needs and perspectives of younger autistic children and non-speaking individuals, as well as their families and carers.

Developed with a deep understanding of childhood development and first hand experience of the specific challenges of autism (including non-speaking autism), our program aims to provide the necessary understanding, support and tools for children and families to flourish. Your child will be guided to connect with the world and explore their place within it – with gentle and fun exercises that honor their individuality and expression, while enabling positive interactions within the structure of the family and society.

Get help

Imagine connecting with your child and creating mutual understanding using proven techniques that honor your child’s natural way of being.

Forget the reward systems and behavior modification techniques. Help your child understand the world around them so that they can navigate and participate fully within it.

What you can expect

You’ll be guided through the program by a highly trained and caring Davis Facilitator, who will accompany you on your journey. Each program provides:

Tailored program

We believe in a personalized approach that caters to the individual strengths and challenges of each participant.

We understand that every autistic individual is unique and ensure that their special interests, needs, and pace are all integrated into their learning journey.

Holistic support for families

We understand that the journey with autism is not just for the child but also for their families and support networks.

Our program provides holistic support that involves parents and support people, empowering them to understand and navigate the challenges alongside their child.

Multisensory approach

Our gentle approach focuses on enhancing self-awareness, self-regulation, and emotional awareness in engaging hands-on and explorative ways.

We use our signature clay-based approach as a gentle, fun, and familiar medium through which developmental concepts that might be incomplete or missing are fully understood and mastered.

Through exploration and discovery, these fundamental concepts for life become integrated into your child’s everyday experiences, empowering them to participate more fully in the world around them.

No behavioral training or rote learning

Instead of focusing on teaching behaviors, the Davis Stepping Stones Program prioritizes neurodevelopmental growth.

We create an environment where clients can learn through experience and exploration, removing barriers and nurturing their development in a natural and supportive way.

Expert guidance

We understand autism and provide a safe and accepting environment for both the client and their support network.

Our team of highly trained professionals provide personalized insights, solutions, expert guidance to support families throughout the program and beyond.

Program format and timeframe

Our facilitators can guide you and your child directly through the program, coach you to work with your child at home, or utilize a combination of both approaches. Sessions can be conducted face-to-face or online, depending on what works best for you.

The duration of the Davis Stepping Stones Program is flexible, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. While a typical program may range from 15 to 30 hours of time with a facilitator, the focus is on providing wrap-around support. This means that a support person needs to be involved in the program every step of the way, whether in-person or online.

Support on your journey

At Davis, we believe that every child has the potential to thrive, regardless of their abilities or challenges. Let the Davis Stepping Stones Program be your guide as you navigate the world of autism together with your child, supporting them to reach their full potential and embrace their unique journey. Together, we can create a world where every young explorer feels empowered, understood, and valued.

What happens next…

Join us as we guide you through each stage of your journey with Davis. We encourage you to ask as many questions as you’d like along the way, ensuring you feel empowered and confident that Davis is the right fit for you.

1.

Free Discovery Call

To find out more about Davis, our programs and workshops, we invite you to book a complimentary Discovery Call and spend up to 30 minutes confidentially sharing details of your situation with us. This will help you start to get an idea of which Davis solutions could be of value.

2.

Initial Assessment

If what you hear resonates, schedule an Initial Assessment meeting (in person or online).

Davis Stepping Stones program assessments are typically covered in two meetings (if appropriate to your situation) – first with a family member, then with the child to build rapport before getting started with the program.

3.

Recommendations

At or following the Initial Assessment, your facilitator will:

  • Determine whether Davis is suitable for you and your situation
  • Recommend which program is best for your needs
  • Indicate appropriate next steps

4.

Book a program

If you and your facilitator feel that Davis is a good fit, at this point, you can book a program.

5.

Program delivery

A Davis Autism Approach Facilitator can take the client through the full program, while coaching a support person on how to reinforce the learning at home, school, work, or in a therapy setting.

Alternatively, a facilitator can coach the support person, who can then work with the client.

Both these approaches can be done in person or online and are flexible in their scheduling and duration.

6.

  • Program follow up work as needed

All program packages provide you with:
