Sophia specializes in supporting individuals navigating challenges with focus, organization, emotional regulation, and learning.
Like any parent, Sophia has always wanted the very best for her two sons. When her youngest was diagnosed with dyslexia and began struggling with reading and writing, she set out to find tools that would truly help him succeed. That search led her to The Gift of Dyslexia—a discovery that changed her life. Shortly after, her son attended a Davis Foundations for Reading Program, the transformation was profound. His skills improved, but even more importantly, his confidence soared. Seeing his discouragement replaced by a “can-do” attitude inspired Sophia to become a licensed facilitator herself.
During her training, Sophia was surprised to experience her own growth. She became more confident, focused, and organized—better able to express herself and recognize the ways she had unconsciously been compensating for dyslexia. This personal journey fuels her deep empathy and commitment to others walking a similar path.
Today, Sophia works with clients in her Bothell, Washington office, makes home visits throughout Washington and Alaska, and also meets with students online.
She has two areas of special passion:
First - Elementary students: those who are just beginning to read but feel discouraged by phonics and all those rules and exceptions you are supposed to memorize. Sophia loves seeing their joy as letters on the page finally gain meaning, and their confidence blossoms.
Autistic young adults who are searching for their next steps in life but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or held back by executive functioning challenges. Supporting them as they build confidence, reduce overwhelm, and take on new responsibilities with pride is one of the greatest privileges of her work.
At the heart of Sophia’s approach is a belief that every person has the right and the potential to thrive. She sees learning as a joyful and empowering process, and her clients often share how much they appreciate her compassion, attentive listening, and nonjudgmental presence—a safe space where they feel free to learn, grow, and make mistakes.
Sophia works with children, teens, and adults, both in person and online. She offers a complimentary 30-minute call to help families and individuals explore whether a Davis® program may be the right fit.

Learning Tools changed our lives. That sounds trite and made-up but it's true, my child's life was changed for the better after the session we did with Sophia.
My kiddo has struggled with some cognitive and behavioral stuff their whole lives and we have always been quick to find workable solutions and supports where we need them. Last summer we decided there needed to be some math help to get through the deregulation of summer and bolster our kiddo until September so we called around and found Learning Tools.
This program is so much more than tutoring. Sophia took a deep look into the way our child's brain works and how they are in the world. Every lesson reorganizes a concept that the brain can use more readily. There are tools learned and used in this program that my kiddo uses every day in any subject.
If your child is struggling in school or life in general in ways that look extra difficult to you, do yourself and your child a big favor and look into this program. We will always be grateful for this life-changing program.
Side note: our kiddo has always had "struggling" academic grades. We are amazed and relieved this year to be seeing all grades in the 80% and higher range for the first time ever.

We strongly endorse Sophia as a facilitator for the Dyslexia Davis Program. Our family has greatly benefited from her services, particularly for our two children who have dyslexia. At the onset of the program, our son, who not only faced learning challenges but also experienced severe migraines, found immense relief and support through Sophia's considerate accommodations. She ensured his comfort by allowing sufficient breaks and regularly checking on his well-being.
Our son participated in the program while in the 5th grade, during which he was homeschooled due to his migraines. His Individualized Education Program (IEP) placed him at a 2nd-grade level in mathematics, and his writing output was minimal. Following his completion of the program, we observed significant improvements in both his academic performance and overall health. He was able to rejoin in-person schooling for the 6th grade, performing at grade level in mathematics and showing progress in his writing skills.
Sophia's professionalism, expertise, and compassionate approach have been invaluable. Her communication is clear and comprehensive, making it easily accessible for both parents and students. Her calm and kind demeanor further enhances the learning experience. For those considering the Dyslexia Davis Program, we highly recommend reaching out to Sophia. Her dedication and effectiveness will undoubtedly meet your expectations.
Working with Sophia has been life-changing. When I finally discovered that I had dyslexia at 46 years old, I didn't think there was anything I could do about it. Sophia not only gave me tools to address my life-long reading challenges, but she also helped me realize that my learning style is a gift. Sophia's warmth, compassion, and focused attention is a perfect blend for folks (like me) who can be hard on themselves and easily distracted. I'm so grateful to have found Sophia, and I highly recommend her to anyone struggling with dyslexia or other atypical learning styles.

My daughter was struggling in school. She didn’t want to go, got frustrated easily and would break down when she got confused. She would lose concentration easily and it was very apparent in her school work.
After our time with Sophia, my daughter’s attitude towards school has completely flipped. She is now excited to go to school, she is acing all of her spelling tests, and she is excited for her Monday pre-tests!
When the teacher said she was getting distracted in class, we started implanting the tools in the classroom that Sophia taught us. This has helped my daughter and her teacher significantly! She is even winning reading awards at school! My daughter had lost all confidence in herself in the classroom and Sophia reassured her, gave her that confidence back, and taught her the tools to use when she starts getting disoriented.
Sophia and her program have done amazing things for our household and I could never fully express how grateful we truly are for this amazing program.

My son worked with Sophia for a Davis Autism Program. He is a little boy on the spectrum, quite shy and reluctant. Sophia really spent a lot of great time with him, she was incredibly patient as well as incredibly creative which allowed him to be who he is. She really respected him and I couldn't have asked for a better experience for him.
I am so incredibly pleased at how it worked out, he is more willing to experience changes, he is more aware of others and his surroundings, and seems to be a happier child.
