My name is Andrea and I am a licensed learning specialist with Davis® North America and certified in neurodiversity coaching.

I’ve been a nurse for 17 years and I grew up in a home daycare where some of my earliest childhood memories were surrounded with the needs and cares of children who were not my own. Helping people is in my blood. I know what it feels like both to give and receive care that makes you feel human. Care that honors where you are at right now and encourages you towards something better. Care that is, in its very nature holistic.

It is human nature to seek care when you are in pain. And if you can’t resolve that pain on your own then you turn your attention outward and look for help. If our body hurts, you might go to a doctor. If your heart hurts you might seek the counsel of a trusted friend or therapist. But where do you go when your brain hurts? Where do you turn when the thing that you know is ‘supposed’ to be easy, isn’t?

I spent 7 years asking that question as I watched my own son struggle with his symptoms of ADHD and autism. Seven years of fearing that my child would never be able to ‘adult’ when he grew up, and asking myself why life’s most basic concepts were so hard for him to grasp when he was also so smart that he never had to study to get high marks in school. I knew there had to be a way to meet him where he was at, to use his academic brilliance and visual giftedness to help make ‘life’ easier. A way to work with who he was, instead of always trying to ‘fix’ him. Seven years later I found what I was looking for, I found, the Davis® method.

In the spring of 2024 one of my son’s classmates went through a Davis® Mastery for Math program. She is an incredibly gifted dancer, artist, musician and student in many ways. But math was not her thing. She was failing math in the 7th grade, and her family had tried all sorts of interventions with the school to try to help, but the problem remained: math was still hard, and her grades did not improve.

She completed her math program in June and we all waited with eager anticipation to see what would happen when she returned to school in the fall. When she did, her experience in math was completely changed. Instead of failing, she was receiving straight A’s. Not only that, but her entire countenance was changed. She no longer apologized for who she was. She knew what she needed to do to learn and was proud of it.

My husband and I were amazed at her transformation and wanted to see if this Davis® method might be able to help our son as well. Our son had seen how much a Davis® program had helped his classmate in math so he agreed to attend a Davis® Mastery for Attention program himself. Before his program, he felt like he didn’t know how to understand his classmates and was having difficulty making friends at school. As parents, we had high hopes that a Davis® Mastery for Attention program might also help his mood regulation (meltdowns), difficulties with writing papers and dysgraphic handwriting (lot of backwards letters and numbers) as well.

Our son started his Davis® Mastery for Attention program in November of 2025. After just 5 days of his program his dysgraphia disappeared. After the full program he has shown significant improvement in emotional regulation (no more melt downs) as well significant improvement in social awareness to the point where teachers and other community leaders pointed out his intuitive gifting with interaction with his peers and how well he was liked by others. His social life also improved with increased self-confidence and new friends developing.

Having such a positive experience with our son led my husband to complete his own Davis® Mastery for Attention program, and I completed a Davis® Mastery for Dyslexia program as well: both of which have been equally successful.

Our experiences with the Davis® method have impacted our family so much that, after 17 years of working as a registered nurse, I hung up that hat and, in the spring of 2025, began my training to learn how to do this work. I am doing this because it works, it’s life changing, and that’s something I can get behind.
