Unlocking Potential with Davis Methods
For over 30 years, I have worked in education and social care, supporting children, students, and staff with diverse learning needs. My journey began as a lecturer in Childhood Studies, where I trained future educators and gained invaluable insights into learning differences and developmental challenges.
When both of my sons were diagnosed with dyslexia—each presenting in their own unique way—I sought solutions beyond traditional approaches. In 2005, I trained as a Specific Learning Difficulties teacher and, during that time, discovered the Ron Davis book The Gift of Dyslexia. I implemented his strategies with my sons, and the transformation was incredible. They thrived in their independence, achieved exceptionally well, and to this day, still use the Davis tools. As they often say, “The Davis methods gave us the perfect strategies to enhance learning in our own ways.”
Seeing the life-changing impact on my own family, I knew I had to give back. Now, as a licensed Davis Dyslexia Facilitator, I bring together my lifelong teaching experience, a BSc (Hons.) in Psychology and Child Development, and my passion for helping individuals overcome learning challenges. My mission is to support not just those with dyslexia, but also individuals with dyscalculia, ADD, ADHD, dysgraphia, and other neurodivergent profiles who find traditional learning environments challenging.
As one of my adult clients wisely shared, “To make a person successful at fishing, don’t give him a fish. Give him a rod and show him how to fish.” That’s exactly what the Davis methods do—empower individuals with lifelong tools for success.
I am fully licensed, insured, and DBS-certified for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. I am also a proud member of PATOSS and the British Psychological Society.
Davis programs are highly individualized and delivered over a short period of time, providing a lifetime of independence. If you or your child could benefit from this approach, you are welcome to make contact for a chat!

Ms P. Son aged 15. 5 years of no schooling. Yesterday was really inspiring and a massive insight as to why he's struggled so much in school being one of 30 students. How you brought understanding of 'time' as far back as we can go and coming forward, that was simply effective and lovely, put on an educational side and kept my son focusing was amazing.
Sorry to keep bothering you I just thought I'd mention how confident my son is and happy in himself he seems, like for the first time in his life really manageable just getting him up is easier not ignoring me totally and going back to sleep. The other day he was being mean to his brother and I calmly reminded him of one of his tools and he went back to his game. I was amazed so just thought I'd let you know as his sisters have also noticed a difference in his mood around them too in a positive way. I felt so proud that he has you as his teacher. Thank you Sue x. Jun 2025
Online programme Young Female Aged 16 studying Performing Arts and Criminology. Dyslexia programme followed by Dyslexia Study Skills. M's email: I knew I had potential, but I wasn't always consistent or confident about how I approached tasks, especially with balancing my workload and physical commitments. The support was tailored to how I learn best. It gave me a routine and strategy that made sense to me. It was personal and realistic for my own goals. I've been using my tools in my lessons which have helped academically and also have better time management and feel more focused in exams. My teacher noticed my answers have improved as they now make sense before I move on to the next point. It pushed me in the right direction one step at a time when I needed it. I've learned that I'm in control of what my outcome is. Aug 2025.
