Over the past 30 years I have worked in educational establishments and social caring professional roles. Working with children, students and staff who have various levels of learning. Being, first a lecturer in Childhood Studies who worked in further education training and quality management I gained invaluable observations of learning difference at many levels and the difficulties some people experience - including the impact issues of the developing child. My sons were both diagnosed as dyslexics each presenting in their own way. They started my journey to qualifying as a Specific Learning Difficulties teacher in 2005. During this training I also read Ron's book ‘The Gift of Dyslexia’ and implemented most of the strategies for my sons. My sons thrived in their independence and achieved exceptionally well, both say ‘the Davis methods gave them the perfect strategies to enhance learning in their individual ways and still use the tools today’. As a parent does when outcomes are good for your family. You plan to pay it back to society one day – so here I am as ‘Fearless to Achieve’, gratefully offering the gift I received to others. Bringing my lifelong teaching experiences, a BSc (Hons.) in Psychology and Child Development together with the addition of a licenced Davis Dyslexia Facilitator. My hope is to enhance and support not just those with dyslexia, but those who have other learning differences such as dyscalculia, ADD, ADHD, dysgraphia and neurodivergence who presently find learning environments challenging. As one of my adult clients shared, ‘to make a person successful at fishing, don’t give him a fish. You give him a rod and show him how to fish’. Ron Davis learning methods do exactly that!
